Some People Are Just Plain Crazy

We made a rare stop at the St. Pete Mall last week.  We were in the food court enjoying our Charley's when this young man walked by going to Chic-Fil-A.  Yes, it is a real snake.  No, I don;t have the slightest idea why one would want it on your head let alone in a crowded public place.  Simply unbelievable.

Hmmm?

The Dog and I have been walking, more or less the same route for 4 years down here in Dumbshitland.  We cross 162nd Avenue, traverse the apartment complex parking lot, where she usually takes her first dump of the walk.  Then out on Bolesta to Whitney, down to Datsko Park, and over to 58th St N. to Empath Health, down Bay View Drive and back to where we started, Death Valley.

Like I said, this was our path, past tense.  Last week she decided to take me to different paths, different streets along that route.  I'm a bit flummoxed as to why, after all these years, she decided to change things up.  I'm OK with it, but she is very much a creature of habit, so my fluxxation is based on very real timed events throughout an ordinary day.  She finds me for breakfast at 5:00 am.  She finds me around 8:15 am for our walk. She finds me at lunchtime for a shot at her dog tax.  Same for supper.  She is at the door at 8ish pm when I usually brush my teeth and let her out for last time before bed.  She is anxious to go out because she knows she will get a peanut butter bone treat when she comes in.

Very predictable mutt.  At least until this past week.

I prefer to think of it as a thirst for knowledge, a curiosity to discover what else is out there in the world. These are very human traits so I am also wrestling with her obvious very high IQ and whether or not I am providing enough mental stimulation.  I'm almost positive they will not allow her entrance into the Dali Museum downtown, or the Museum of Modern Art.  This area is very welcoming to dogs but they must draw the line somewhere.  I hate it when people and places treat her like an animal. But these places would surely let her expansive nature to grow and realize its full potential.  I will be reporting back on this issue soon.  Suggestions welcome.

To continue or not to continue?  How to muster the time and creativity to continue this?  We'll see.
